About this site

Corrections, questions and complaints

One address, read by a person. Corrections get priority, and they get published rather than quietly patched.

Write to [email protected]. There is no contact form on this site, deliberately: a form that posts nowhere is worse than no form, and we would rather you had an address you can keep.

What gets answered first

Corrections. If a label has been revised, a quotation has lost its context, a date is wrong or a figure does not match its source, that goes to the top of the pile. Send the link if you have it. When we change a page because of a correction, we say on the page what changed and when.

Source requests. If a claim on this site does not carry a source you can follow, that is a defect. Tell us which sentence and we will either produce the source or remove the claim.

Rights and permissions. All the illustration on this site was drawn for it. If you believe something here infringes your work, write and say so specifically and we will look at it straight away.

What cannot be answered here

We cannot tell you whether to take minoxidil, which strength to buy, how to use it, whether your symptom is a side effect, or what is causing your hair loss. Those are clinical questions about one person, and answering them from an inbox would be both useless and reckless. A general practitioner or a board-certified dermatologist can examine your scalp, take a history and order the tests that separate one kind of hair loss from another. That is worth more than any website, this one included.

If something on the label's own stop-use list has happened to you — chest pain, a racing heart, faintness, dizziness, sudden weight gain, swollen hands or feet, or an irritated scalp — the label's instruction is to stop and ask a doctor, and that is the advice we would give too, which is to say: it is the label's, not ours.

If it is about a pet

If an animal has licked minoxidil, or slept where a treated head has rested, do not wait for a reply from a website. Ring a vet or an animal poison line now. The side effects page explains why this one is urgent.
